New York Mets to celebrate Filipino Heritage Month Sept. 17

For the third consecutive year, the New York Mets will celebrate Filipino Heritage Night when they play the Washington Nationals at Citi Field on September 17th.

There will be pre-game festivities outside of the Jackie Robinson Rotunda, featuring local performers such as the Kinding Sindaw cultural dance troupe and singer Adinah Lagud. Professor Kevin Nadal will emcee the pre-game show.

“This is a very exciting time, given the fantastic season the Mets are having,” said Jonathan de Castro, who helped organize a similar event in 2010. “I am happy to know that they want to revitalize Filipino Heritage Night.”

This will be the third consecutive year that Filipino Heritage Night will be hosted by the Mets. The first took place in 2010 when they played the Pittsburgh Pirates; the second in 2011 against the Washington Nationals.

Vendors and sponsors are welcome. For more information about the event, contact Janice Lim at proximaproductionsnyc@gmail.com, or Nicole Annese of the Mets Group Sales Department at 718-559-3020 or email at nannese@nymets.com.

In addition to all of the pre-game festivities, the Mets will be selling tickets to the ballgame at a discounted rate. To purchase tickets for the event, visit http://www.mets.com/filipino. - The FilAm
