Honest Filipino Airport Police returns 400K to owner

A Manila airport employee has once again affirmed the unique Filipino hospitality and honesty.
For Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) airport police Pablito Morales, he was just doing his job of securing passengers and their belongings. For Filipino-British Liwayway Navarro, Morales represented the best face of the Philippines.

Passenger Navarro and her husband were bound for Hong Kong and about to board their flight when she realized her trolley bag was missing. The couple then decided to voluntarily offload themselves to look for the bag which contained jewellery and other personal effects with an estimated value at PhP 400,000 or about USD 9,300.
Navarro sought the help of NAIA Terminal 2 airport cop Morales to find her lost trolley bag at the NAIA’s pre-departure area. Morales coordinated with the Bureau of Immigration and the airline for the couple’s voluntary offloading. He then personally searched the entire terminal until he spotted a luggage left at the passenger’s exit area. Navarro confirmed the luggage was hers.

Morales has been an airport cop for 23 years and says it’s the fourth time he was able to return items
left behind by owners. He actually felt relieved he was instrumental in returning the belongings of Navarro and the other airport passengers. He says he believes “good karma” awaits him and his family every time he is able to help find lost items.
Morales reveals he gets to bring home to his four children only PhP 2,000 every payday as the rest of his PhP 23k pay check goes to loan payments. Morales is the sole breadwinner of his family.
Morales is one of the 35 airport personnel recently awarded by Manila International Airport Authority with certificates of commendation for acts of goodness in helping passengers.
