DLSU-D 1st Pinoy school in global sustainable group

A Filipino university has finally been admitted to the world network of top colleges and universities employing sustainable principles and measures in their educational institutions.
De La Salle University-Dasmariňas (DLSU-D) in Cavite province, Philippines joins over 60 members from 26 countries including Harvard University, Yale University, ETH Zurich and National University of Singapore, all top-notch educational institutions which have bonded as the International Sustainable Campus Network (ISCN) since 2007 to create and maintain conditions where humans and nature can exist in productive harmony.
DLSU-D takes pride in practicing what it preaches. Students learn about and apply environmentalism right in their own campus and not just from books and within the classroom. The academic community nests amid a 27-hectare campus teeming with greens, a lake, a botanical garden and a 13,000 strong student body with 400 employees which practice measures to reduce their carbon footprint with the use of electric vehicles, reduce wastes, conserve energy and water, and campaign for awareness and affirmative action.
ISCN compels members to measure sustainability targets and efforts and submit charter reports based on standards set by ISCN members. As an ISCN member, DLSU-D has also pledged support for the Sustainable Campus Charter developed by ISCN in collaboration with the World Economic Forum’s Global University Leaders Forum (GULF).
DLSU-D is also the first academic institution in the Philippines be accepted in the International Association of Universities – Higher Education for Sustainable Development (IAU-HESD) , a portal service providing access to inspirational actions and initiatives developed around the world.
DLSU-D was also recently included in the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking for institutions combating global climate change.
