MANILA, Philippines – Malacañang is hoping that Filipino-Mexican-American singer Jessica Sanchez will become the next “American Idol.”
“We hope that the next American Idol will be Jessica Sanchez,” deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said in an interview with radio dzRB on Sunday.
Valte said she is confident that even “without calling from the executive,” Sanchez will make it to the top in the hit American talent show.
“With all the support that she’s getting from the Filipinos with or without calling from the executive, magtutuloy-tuloy po iyan. Final three na ito and we really are hoping for the best. We are wishing her the best of luck in this final stretch,” she said.
Valte has also joined calls for the continued support for half-Filipina singer.
“Yung mga kababayan po natin have taken to voting for Jessica so we hope that the support will continue,” she said.
Last Friday, Vice President Jejomar Binay also congratulated 16-year-old Sanchez and commended her for achieving so much at a young age.
"I wish to congratulate Jessica Sanchez on her on inclusion as one of the Top 3 finalists of American Idol Season 11. That she has already accomplished so much at such a young age is truly inspiring," Binay said.
The Vice President also called on Filipinos around the world to continue supporting Sanchez, who is now gearing up for the top three performance night next week Wednesday (Thursday morning in Manila).
"I call on our kababayans to continue to support Jessica as her quest to be this year's Idol nears its finale," he said.
“American Idol” is down to its last two weeks and many are hoping that Sanchez will make it all the way to the show’s finale.
