Filipino-American writer-director Jerell Rosales will be one of the competitors in the upcomingHollyshorts Film Festival (HSFF) from August 9 to 16.

Rosales' entry “Born to Dance This Way” will screen on August 14th, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at the Chinese Grauman’s Theater in Hollywood, California. The opening night of the HSFF will be on August 9.

The film, a dance comedy, revolves around the life of the overweight but "fierce" Joo Si (Russell Argenal) who auditions for the opportunity of a lifetime to be a principal backup dancer for a sexy female pop group “The 4PLAY Ladies.”

According to a news release on the movie’s official site, Rosales said, “It is such an honor to have Born to Dance this Way in competition at this year’s Hollyshorts Film Festival. Representing the Filipino-American community, here we go!”
For this year, the HSFF received over 1,000 entries from 20 countries including Australia, Canada, South Africa, South Korea, the UK and US to name a few.
The HSFF will feature screenings of comedies, commercials, trailers, web series, music videos, animated shorts, documentary shorts and more to be judged by major sponsor-companies like Sunny Field Entertainment, Greenhouse Studios, and Grindstone, among others.
The prizes from the sponsors total over $100,000 to be presented to each winner in their respective category.
Twice named by MovieMaker Magazine as one of the “25 Festivals Worth the Entry Fee,” HSFF showcases the best and brightest short films internationally to help push forward the careers of budding film makers with exposure. - VVP, GMA News
